Sock...what do i want a sock for??

My spring allergies have been playing a merry hell with my face of late. My poor eyes even get a sniff of grass seeds and they explode into red itchy evilness. My nose isnt much nicer. Seems my sisters are having the same problem. All started about a week ago.

I have freed myself from the evil baby socks for awhile. Below is my non-sock (but still baby) adventures.

My friend in Qld is having her 5th baby due January (but she is hoping to induce in Dec). I am pretty sure she will love this baby version of the Lil Devil Hat (modified by me)

I started this yearterday and finished it up today. I love quick knits. And doesnt Pooh Bear look nice and evil?

Nieks baby now has a jumper (below) to go with the beanie (few posts ago). Hand dyed by me before knitting. I love it. So does a friend of mine in New Zealand whos baby is due in April (so I am now torn on whether to give it to Niek or save it for Grants baby). My standard knitted a billion times for peoples babies modified raglan jumper. I love this pattern (I did this for Baby J in stripes). Also included a close up of the colours.

Lastly to show you. Below is the Christmas Pressie for Baby J. I mailed off the parcel mid week to Switzerland. I cant wait for Syb to get it. I hope she loves everything. I forgot to take a pic of the very Aussie gift I included in the parcel for her. My girls have named the bunny "Gangsta Bunny" cos he looks like he belongs in a gang.

I am still working my way through things for babies born this year and chrissie pressies. I dont know how many I am going to get done, and really I dont think I will care..LOL. I guess when the time comes we will just see who of the small people are left to buy for.

There are more hand dyed wool up on my Etsy including some 8ply (DK/Sports weight)..Go look, I know you want to..I will wait.............DONE? ok lets keep going.

I have sold my first hand knitted item on etsy too. One of my chunky beanies. All the other knits I hope to get up there seem to slowly be handed out to peoples babies. Though I still have my hippy baby pants to list.

Weather here has been pretty warm, damn I hate hot weather. Also hate voting and thank goodness that is done for a while longer now.

Ok thats it for me for now. I have dinner to cook and biscuits to make!

Happy knitting all!

Oh Babies

I am slowly getting sick of knitting baby socks. I am onto my 6th pair of the same sock pattern. I think..Though 2 were sent last month (or was it the month before?). Another two is waiting to go to Switzerland. and 2 pair are heading to Qld next month to two seperate mums. I am working on pair 7 now, one sock made..another one started. After I finished this sock I am casting on SOMETHING ELSE..Though, still for babies. I am going to cast on a cardigan for Nieks unborn (those with ravelry will have probably seen my massive queue of baby cardigans. It will be one of those). His baby is due in 2 weeks. After the cardigan, I will make the socks for his baby.

Below are piccies of the 2 pair of socks heading to Queensland, and the half done pair I am working on now.

Baby socks done in cream top and left over of my Pansy colourway for sole.

baby socks done in my Pansy colourway

Baby socks done in my Fire in the Sky colourway.

The top pair (2 colours) are the ones I am working on now to finish up. Its something I had in my head and wanted to try. Love how it looks. I have other small amount of left overs I plan on using up this way too.

And some of my new colourways I am hopefully going to list on my etsy today below to look at.

Okies folks. I think thats enough excitment for one day for you all! LOL Happy knitting Katt

One door closes.....

Another 10 open! YIKES

I finished the baby socks on the list last post. And almost fully finished the charity knitting. Which is good..being as the list has grown again..SIGH
There is 5 babies due by the end of this year (two might have already been born, haven't checked up on Adams side of the family on the coast of late). And that means 5 babies to knit for! There is a 6th, but that is due April next year (at least someone loves me enough to separate themselves from others!! lol). So the grand plan.. BABY SOCKS. Easy. Quick. Cute. And doesn't matter what your winter is like socks are worn. So I have knitted one pair already for these said 5 babies. 4 of them are born in Australia so will have to do bigger sizes for winter in 6 months. But one is due in 2 weeks and will come into this world in Holland. It is the first child to be of a online poker friend of mine. I plan on doing more then just socks for this baby. Niek's little one has already gotten a beanie knitted up and today I cast on a jumper. Its another unknown sex baby (cruelty to knitters I tell you!!), so am having to do some serious stash diving for unisex colours that are baby soft. Don't want to have to buy wool, done a bit too much of that of late (I would get into trouble! haha).

Listed more wool on my etsy too. Have more to list (new colours) GO..Look...BUY...lol Its been fun doing it. Have filled a few orders too (3 private ones). Great that my wool is getting out there in the world.

My little parcel from Switzerland is almost ready to go (which is good, cos its getting really cold there). Below is the little socks (that was on the list) and a group piccie of things for baby J. I have 1 more secret thing to just finish up then I can get it all in the mail and on its way to its new home.

From top left, 2 little singlets I bought, under that his prem beanie, under that his size 1 socks, middle jumper and pants, right top bigger baby ear flap hat and under little man socks.

Below is the beanie I have made for Nieks baby, its the same pattern as baby Js prem beanie, done in bright red (pretty unisex really)

Get the feeling I like to stick away from the baby pastels where I can? I love bright colours for babies, or even (for baby boys) manly colours. I think its cute.

I am enjoying being in Ravelry (Kattwings), there is some great things to look at on there, and patterns I would never have known about if it wasn't for the site. Mind you I still have to start putting my stash in there (now THAT is a mammoth effort alone I think).

Okies, thats me done. I have knitting to do...Laundry to wash...and Groceries to buy! Happy knitting all

Pressure slowing off

Well I have done that getting butt into gear thing. I have now finished up the cute little baby pants for Baby J (didn't do those cargo pockets on the pants, I just might if i have time before I have to mail them off. But I might not). I have also finished the Knitting Group Pressies.

So now my pre-Chrissie knitting is a bit of a small list. Here is the full list:
  1. Baby J's baby pants DONE

  2. Knitting Groups chrissie pressies DONE

  3. Secret Santa knitting for Knitting Group

  4. Charity Knitting

  5. Socks for baby J
I am now gonna get my butt moving on the Charity knitting (maybe sneak the baby socks for Baby J in)...The Secret Santa knitting will get done. I am tossing up between two things at the moment. Neither will take me too long to do.

Below is the piccies of things I have finished for Baby J so far that you havent see (you have seen the size 1 socks and the jumper).

The pants. I love how these ended up. They are so gorgeous and soft.

Cute little earflap hat for him. Hoping this will fit him once he has grown out of the one below.

Little Cable beanie. Done in a rather manly colour. This is a tiny size. Will fit him now (well I hope he hasnt grown out of it!!).

Well I cant show you the knitting group Chrissie pressies. They are a SECRET..But once they are all handed out I am sure I can.

And for those who missed the previous posts. If you have Ravelry and wanna add me. its Kattwings. Add me! lol

Today I have also been busy dyeing up wool. Will be getting those all nice and pretty and adding them to my Etsy Shop by end of the week I hope. I also have some baby hats to list too for sale.

Okies folks. Happy knitting! Catch you all later

Do it to ourselves

I am sure I am not the only knitter here that does this..

But why do we do it to ourselves?

Do what? I hear you ask...Put so much pressure on oneself getting so close to Chrissie.

My list of things to knit before Christmas is huge. And I am trying to keep it from getting bigger....Keep from casting on things that can wait til after Christmas...Keep from going insane.

My list includes things like Chrissie pressies for knitting group. Secret Santa for kniting group. Baby J's things before winter hits his country. Charity knitting for a school in the US...

I am half way through my knitting for my Chrissie pressies for knitting group. Over half way through my pressie for Baby J...Charity knit and Secret Santa knit....Well...let me hide in the corner about that and cry.

I will get there...I work well under pressure..Really I do..Well I hope I do! LOL

The weather is all over the place here still. Its blue skies at the moment, but the girls might blow away outside (waiting for Harl to come in and tell me Shelly is down the street now stuck in a tree)...

As for my last post about Adams jumper. It needed to die...I hated how it was rolling...I was knitting it still thinking well...I will work something out to do with it to stop it (fooling myself). I will use the wool to make him something else (or someone something else) and buy different wool to make Jesse's Flame for him.

Ok folks. best be off..knitting to do..wool to dye...Happy knitting all!

Well Crap!!!

It would seem another item on my small list will be visiting the frog pond. Though..I guess..deep down it was destined to. After all. three strikes and you are out.

Adams jumper which I had great plans on havnig nicely done to present him, is the guilty item.

Yesterday when I was taking pics to post on my ravelry of it, I found...It had a CUT STITCH!!! Of course it would seem Mr (or Miss) Nobody did it. The stitch is less then half way up. I guess this is the final straw that proves to me that it needs to be frogged.

Problem one came up with the pattern early. The bottom of it rolled. WHY I dont know, the pattern in the piccie never did..And I have seen a few finished ones on Ravelry so I guess I just used the wrong wool.

Problem two appeared while I was taking a piccie of it. I found a purl stitch that should have been a knit (yep..that would be easy to fix I thought)...THEN

Problem three appeared..the cut stitch..SIGH...all over red rover...time to frog..

The pattern of concern is the Stitch'n'Bitch Nations Jesse's Flame...Was doing it in olive (colour in piccie is TOTALLY wrong), wasnt doing it with the flames....

True colour of the jumper

Stitch pattern of the jumper.

Damn hole in the jumper!! (fuzzy..sorry)

Ok folks..Thats it for now. Happy knitting!
